A perfect Saturday at Knoxville’s Market Square Farmers Market

There’s something special about Saturday mornings in downtown Knoxville. Whether you have lived here for years or you’re just visiting, the Market Square Farmers Market is one of the best places to experience the heart of our city.

When I moved back home to Tennessee nearly three years ago, it felt like I was discovering an entirely new place. Market Square easily became one of my favorite spots to spend a Saturday morning. Let me take you along one of my Saturday mornings. I slip into something comfortable and stylish; skip making coffee at home, and head downtown knowing I’ll find the perfect cup from one of Knoxville’s incredible local coffee vendors. With coffee in hand, I wander through the rows of farmers, artists, bakers, and small businesses. I gather fresh vegetables for the week, and I search for the same woman who makes the most amazing sourdough bread because God knows I can’t keep a sourdough starter alive!

Next I choose a fresh bouquet of flowers for my kitchen island. This may actually be my favorite part. There’s just something about walking around with beautiful flowers that keeps a girl happy. I also pick up some locally made honey whenever I’m running low. Beyond the fresh produce, you can find handmade soaps, jewelry, artwork, and one-of-a-kind gifts. Every visit feels a little different which exactly keeps me coming back.

Where to grab lunch after the Farmers Market

By the time I finish shopping, brunch is the natural next stop. Luckily, many of the restaurants in the square are beginning to open, so you don’t have to go far for something delicious. Whether you’re craving southern comfort food, a fresh sandwich, or a classic brunch plate, there are plenty of options.

Three Brunch spots I swear by

Not Watsons Kitchen + Bar – Their fresh strawberry chicken salad is one of my favorite meals downtown. They have patio seating which I enjoy watching the farmers market thrive.

Cafe 4 – Right in the heart of Market Square and they serve weekend brunch from 9am-3pm. Sweet and savory options for sure.

Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar – This is another popular choice directly on the corner of the square. I love their chicken and waffles, and their huge biscuits!

As a local Realtor, I love sharing the spots that make Knoxville special, not just the homes, but the lifestyle that comes with living here. I hope this inspires you to spend your next Saturday exploring Market Square.
